Baptism is an important milestone in the life of a Christian and members of the Baptism Ministry have the honor of serving a person for this important event. A team member will welcome baptismal candidates with appropriate garments and towels and assist with whatever is needed as the baptism is being performed. Afterwards, volunteers will mop up water, gather and launder linens for future use, and generally tidy up. Although baptisms are often planned in advance, the team is always ready to assist on a Sunday morning in the event of an impromptu baptism. This ministry is looking for reliable people who have a servant’s heart.
This ministry helps save CHCC thousands of dollars each year as it helps with maintenance on our campus. We can use help in many areas including painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and picking up trash. All skill levels are welcome.
The Cafe Crew provides breakfast beverages to anyone who comes in before service. You will often be some of the first people to talk to visitors and make them feel welcome. Volunteers on this team need to arrive on Sundays at 7:45 a.m. to help set up the room, roast the coffee beans, and help clean up before the service begins. You may be asked to do a shopping run every now and then. We want people who are clean, organized, and friendly.
The Family Care Ministry exists to provide assistance and care for church members during times of need such as childbirth, illness, or the death of a loved one. This can take many forms. Most commonly, it is organizing and delivering meals to the family to lift some of their burdens. There are several roles: cooking tasty meals, organizing the calendar, and communicating with people to follow-up and check-in. Aside from the meal service, it might look like visiting someone in the hospital or taking their toddler for half a day. It might include sending a thoughtful note a month later. It might mean mowing their lawn or weeding their garden or walking their dog. There are many ways to help a family who is going through a challenging time. If you have a passion for reaching out to your brothers and sisters in Christ and caring for those who are in a time of need, this is a good ministry to join.
The Food Pantry at CHCC has been an established part of the church's community outreach for over 30 years. The pantry is stocked to provide emergency supplies to families of all sizes who find themselves in sudden and occasional need. We are always looking for volunteers who are willing to: (1) shop to stock up on necessary items, (2) organize and wipe down shelves as donations come in, and (3) preen through items to dispose of those which have expired. If you enjoy working behind the scenes to reach the greater needs of our community, the Food Pantry is a great place to volunteer!
Greeters offer the gift of hospitality to those coming together to worship as an expression of God’s love for us. When people come to a church for the first time, they want to know they are welcomed and accepted just as they are. The Guest Services Team should be made up of people from all ages. Couples, families and single people are encouraged to be among the greeters. When someone walks in the door, a member of the team will introduce themselves and give a friendly greeting. You will help them find the building they are looking for, often walking them there yourself. You will help them find answers to any questions they might have. The greeters rotate who takes responsibility, giving people a month at a time of serving on this team. It requires that you show up to service early, being present by 9:30 a.m. We are looking for people who are friendly and have a passion for our church.
The CHCC Kids’ Ministry has a lot of roles and opportunities, but they can primarily be broken down into a few major categories. We want all our volunteers to build and grow in relationships with kids, with families, and with our teammates, but we all have specific roles to make that happen. We have volunteer openings on Sunday mornings and for special events. We are looking for caring people who will invest into the lives of the kids with the ultimate goal of changing their lives through the Gospel.
Life Groups are an integral part of what we do at CHCC. We believe that sustained life change occurs as we are growing in a relationship with Christ, which often happens through relationships. Life Groups provide the opportunity to grow in Christ, connect to others, and serve others. Paul taught the Corinthians that some plant the seeds, and others water them, but God makes them grow (1 Cor. 3:6). Life Group hosts and leaders have the privilege of creating environments in which seeds of faith are planted and watered. If you would like to know more about Life Groups before deciding to volunteer, please click the button below.
Hosts
If you have the gift of hospitality, becoming a host may be a good option for you. As a host of a Life Group, you would be in charge of organizing a meeting place and something small for the group members to eat. If you decide to allow the group to meet in your home, pets are expected to be in a separate area during group time. Once the members have arrived, it would be your job to welcome them and see to any needs they may have during their visit. Outside of the Life Group meetings, hosts are expected to attend mandatory meetings.
Leaders
As a leader of a Life Group, you are expected to help group members grow through Bible study, prayer, service, and the building of relationships. The best way to do this is to create a family atmosphere. During each meeting, leaders facilitate the meeting, monitor its health and duration, and promote participation among members. Leaders are also expected to invite and encourage members to invite others to the group, as well as, set up times for their Life Group to serve together throughout the year. Outside of the Life Group meetings, leaders should communicate with church leadership about the group and attend leadership meetings.
To be in the best position to lead a group, individuals should have a personal, growing relationship with Jesus Christ, recognize the Bible as the authority for living, be a member or regular attender of CHCC, and have the time, emotional capacity, and moral discernment to lead a group. Life Group experience is preferred, but not required.
The Men’s Ministry exists to create spaces for men in the church to fellowship, serve, study scripture, and generally be supported by each other. Our goal is that the men at church would be in each other’s lives, unified in the Spirit, discipling one another as iron sharpens iron. The primary venues for this are the Men’s Bible Study, which happens on Sunday mornings at 9:00 a.m., and our monthly men's breakfasts at various restaurants. It also includes fellowship events like pickup basketball games and meeting together at venues such as TopGolf. We can use planners, brain-stormers and communicators, as well as men who can teach Scripture and lead discussion. We want to recruit men who are driven to help their brothers in Christ.
Our church supports several men and women who are bringing God’s Word to the lost both locally and internationally, and the driving support for these men and women is the Missions Ministry Team. There are several ways you can be a part of this ministry. Team members write letters and emails of encouragement to missionaries. They pray for the needs of their communities and families. They volunteer to help with events hosted for local missions and show hospitality to missionaries when they are in town.
The nursery provides a safe, loving environment for parents to leave babies (infants through 24 months) so they may attend Sunday morning services or serve elsewhere on campus. Our nursery is always staffed with one of our co-directors and one or more volunteers. While the director is responsible for overall management of the nursery each Sunday morning, all we ask of our volunteers is that they come in ready to interact with babies in a loving and gentle way. Volunteers commit to serving at least one recurring shift per quarter (for example, one Sunday every three months).
Our online service moderators help create a welcoming and engaging environment for those attending church virtually on Facebook and YouTube. You don’t need to be especially tech-savvy—just comfortable using basic comment features and navigating between two open windows on your computer. Moderators log in about 5 minutes before the service starts and stay through the end, which is typically 30 to 40 minutes. Most volunteers serve once a month. While the ministry leader handles all behind-the-scenes coordination, moderators simply focus on greeting viewers, sharing helpful links, and joining in the conversation during the message. You can serve from home or even from the in-person service if you'd like to multitask.
The Prayer Ministry is made of people who are committed to praying for the needs of CHCC members and their families and friends. Serving in this ministry does not require that you attend any meetings or training but simply that you pray! If you join this ministry, you will receive a weekly email with a list of prayer needs for that week; periodically, you will also receive emails with urgent prayer requests and updates. All you need to be part of this ministry is an email address and a dedication to communicating with God about the needs of others.
The Seniors Ministry exists to create opportunities for seniors to fellowship and serve. One of the primary venues for this is the Go-Getters lunch which happens one Tuesday per month at a different restaurant each month. We are looking for people to organize events that are enjoyable for our 55+ age group and to always be reaching out to bring new people into the group. We would love to use your skills and passions to benefit this ministry, whether that be communication, planning, or ideas. We want people who are 55 years and older and who have a heart for community and service.
Communion Preparation
Every Sunday service at CHCC, we partake in communion as an important part of our worship. This communion is prepped in advance by members of the Communion Preparation Ministry. A volunteer comes in early on Sunday mornings to fill the jars of grape juice and bowls of bread. The jars and bowls are then placed on all of the tables prior to service by this volunteer. You will be trained on proper handling and storage of these items. The volunteers rotate who takes responsibility, giving each person a month at a time. We are looking for people who are dependable, detail-oriented and self-sufficient.
Worship Center Appearance
The Worship Center Appearance Ministry consists of the people who decorate the worship center throughout the year. The goal of this ministry is to elevate the worship experience by making the room inviting and festive and, most of all, to draw our attention to God through beauty. There are many weeks where nothing is required of this ministry, but you can expect to be much more involved during holidays, especially before Christmas and Easter. We are looking for people who have an eye for aesthetics and work well in teams. You may be occasionally asked to make a shopping run.
Worship Center Clean-up
The heart of this ministry is to help prepare the Worship Center each Sunday to be a clean and orderly place where people can worship comfortably. Each Sunday after the service, the Worship Center Clean-up Crew wipes off every table in the worship building, throws away used communion cups, and picks up other trash. This team is also in charge of taking the communion bread bowls and juice jars backstage to empty out and clean. You will be trained on proper handling and storage of these items. The volunteers rotate who takes responsibility and must commit to serving at least one recurring shift per month (for example, the first Sunday of every month). Being apart of this ministry will require staying after the service for 10-15 minutes. We want people who are thorough, thoughtful and diligent.
The Teens’ Ministry serves the purpose of changing teens through Christ. Members of the Teens’ Ministry Team have several different jobs, including: mentoring the teens at Connect on Sunday nights during the school year and sponsoring various events throughout the year including CIY summer camps. We are looking for caring people who will invest into the lives of the teens with the ultimate goal of changing their lives through the Gospel. We also ask that volunteers enforce our CHCC Teen Ministry Conduct Guidelines and abide by the Volunteer Staff Guidelines of Castle Hills Christian Church and all state and federal laws at all times. We have various volunteer opportunities within the Teen Ministry.
Event Sponsor
As an event sponsor, you will be asked to participate in two to six events per year, including summer retreats, concerts, service projects, and local outings. We are seeking friendly individuals who will be welcoming and sociable to visitors. All event sponsors are expected to be responsible to and respectful of each teen's parent(s)/guardian(s). Event sponsors are also responsible for attending all required training events and retreats.
Connect Mentor
We are looking for caring and spiritually mature individuals to help mentor a small group of teens during Connect. In order to do so, volunteers will be required to attend weekly Connect gatherings, and required training events and retreats. During Connect, mentors are expected to greet the teens, help track attendance, and help lead a group service project. Outside of Connect gatherings, volunteers are asked to perform follow ups with teens from their small groups that were unable to attend, connect with the parents of the teens in their small group, and commit to a group spiritual discipline/practice.
The Women’s Ministry exists to create spaces for women in the church to fellowship, serve, study scripture and generally be supported by each other. Our goal is that the women at church would be in each other’s lives, unified in the Spirit, discipling one another as iron sharpens iron. Throughout the years, this has looked very different. It has included weekly Bible studies, worship bonfires, and painting parties. We have gathered to do gardening projects at church or for group exercise. Right now, the primary venues for this are the Women’s Bible Study, which happens on Sunday mornings at 9:00 a.m., and our yearly Women of Joy conference. If you have a passion for this ministry, we are looking for women with a heart for their sisters in Christ. We could use people who are gifted with ideas, planning and communication, or people who enjoy unpacking Scripture or leading singing. We also always need extra help for the annual Christmas party with decorations.
The Worship Support Team serves during the Sunday morning gathering and during special services throughout the year. Their tasks include serving communion, helping people find seats, adding or taking away seats as needed, and keeping an eye on the safety of the congregation. Members of the Worship Support Team are always paying attention in case problems arise during the service that need to be addressed. Whether these be medical, technical, or logistical issues, these people are on standby ready to jump in and help as needed. You will receive training for all of these things. If you are happy to serve and are reliable and resourceful, this is a good ministry for you to consider.
The Worship Team is a large ministry team that serves primarily on Sunday mornings at our 10 a.m. gathering. We are passionate about creating worship experiences that allow people to see God in new ways, leading them to have a changed life through Christ. Each team member is asked to commit to serving at least one Sunday per month in one of the three following roles:
Musician/Vocalist
The Worship Team is looking for people who love to express their love for God through music and are competent on their instrument (this includes vocals!). We are best able to lead others in worship when our own worship is sincere and contagious, so we are looking for people who have an engaging stage presence. Musicians and vocalists must be available to practice at home throughout the week and attend rehearsals on their designated Sunday mornings at 8 a.m.
Computer Technician
During every worship service, a technician operates Worship Extreme for the music slides as well as other components of the service so that those engaged in the service can follow along easily with the songs and speaking. We will train you to use this software. We are looking for people who are detail-oriented, focused, and able to anticipate what is coming next. Computer technicians must be available to attend rehearsals on their designated Sunday mornings at 8 a.m.
Sound Technician
The sound board operator is responsible for all music and speaker sound quality, adjusting the volumes of the service and making sure each element is heard and balanced. We will train you to use the console. We are looking for people who understand music and are critical listeners and proactive problem-solvers. Sound technicians must be able to attend rehearsals on their designated Sunday mornings at 8 a.m.
We partner with ministries that serve our city. Whether it’s food distribution or literacy support, you can get involved and live out your faith.
If you're ready to embark on this rewarding journey of service and community, we invite you to fill out our volunteer interest form below. Once submitted, a member of our team will reach out to discuss potential opportunities and next steps.
